Based in Northern Kentucky, Goldshell Photography is a team of three photographers – John Weigold, Michelle (Curtin) Weigold, and Rachel (Curtin) Taylor.
The name GoldShell is a mixture of our names, and we hope you enjoy the combination of styles we all bring to the table as well!
John
When John was a little kid, he used to tell people that he wanted to be a photographer when he grew up. His passion stuck with him, and its something he still loves. When he’s not working full time as a market-research analyst with a MBA, he enjoys doing anything outside- be it hiking, running, or mountain biking. His family owns a tree farm, and he loves spending time out in the woods. He also has a strong love of traveling, and will try any food once!
Michelle
Michelle has always been known as “the friend who brings the camera to everything” and after taking an old-fashioned film development class in college, she realized the art of photography was something she truly loved. Besides taking pictures, Michelle loves creating art, family tree research, skiing, her cats and dog, and traveling internationally. She has spent several months living in Valencia, Spain and is a high-school Spanish teacher.
Rachel
Rachel has had a camera attached to her side ever since she got her first point-and-shoot in the 5th grade. In college, she took photography classes and learned how to use a DSLR camera for the first time. She became a member of GoldShell shortly after! Besides photography, Rachel is passionate about her faith, art, traveling, hiking, volunteering, and spending quality time with her friends, husband Patrick, and baby Joseph. Rachel works as a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist and makes great guacamole.
